Q: What is the best cleaning method?
A: The most popular cleaning method and recommended by most major carpet mills and The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification is known as Steam Cleaning or Hot water extraction. There are basically 2 types:
- The portable machine that is plugged into the wall. This includes the consumer ones like you would rent at a supermarket. These are not very good because they are very limited in power and can leave your carpet very wet taking several days to dry.
- A much more preferred method is the powerful truck-mounted hot water extraction machine, which we use. This is the method we use at Red Carpet Floor Care, and it is the method recommended by Shaw Carpet Industries, the largest carpet manufacturer in the world. DuPont as well as all the other large manufacturers also recommend hot water extraction; in fact some require it every 12-18 months or else your carpet warranty is void.
